Semaglutide for Weight Loss
Prescribed after a real evaluation and monitored over time — including the effects on mood and sleep, by a provider qualified to assess them.
What semaglutide is
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics a hormone your body already produces, slowing gastric emptying and acting on the brain's appetite regulation. The practical effect for most people is feeling full sooner and thinking about food less.
It is the active ingredient in several brand-name medications. It is also widely available in compounded form, which is not the same thing and carries different considerations.
Side effects, stated plainly
Nausea is the most common side effect and is usually worst when starting or increasing the dose. For most people it improves over several weeks. Constipation, reflux and fatigue are also common.
Slower dose escalation reduces side effects substantially. This is the single most common reason people stop treatment unnecessarily — a provider who is actually monitoring you can adjust the plan instead of letting you quit.
Serious risks exist and will be discussed with you before you start, including who should not take this medication at all.
What it costs
We are a self-pay practice. We do not bill insurance, which means no prior authorizations, no coverage denials, and no surprise bill months later. You know the price before you book.
We publish our rates because “call for pricing” is a barrier, and barriers are what keep people from getting care.
Frequently asked questions
- Are semaglutide, Ozempic and Wegovy the same?
- Semaglutide is the active ingredient. Ozempic and Wegovy are brand-name products containing it, approved for different indications and dosed differently. They are related but not interchangeable.
- Do the side effects get better?
- For most people, yes — nausea typically improves after the first several weeks and after dose adjustments settle. Slower escalation helps considerably.
- Do injections need refrigeration?
- Storage requirements vary by product. You will be given specific instructions for what you are prescribed.
- Is compounded semaglutide the same as brand-name?
- No. Compounded products are not FDA-approved and the FDA has issued warnings about them. We will tell you which you are receiving so you can make an informed decision.
