About us

A practice built around one relationship

Holistic Medical Services United, LLC is a telehealth practice licensed in 23 states. Every appointment is by video, every appointment is with the same clinician, and every rate is published before you book. Most of what follows is about the choices behind that, including the ones that make this the wrong practice for some people.

The problem this practice was built against

Care gets divided. One clinic manages the psychiatric medication, another the weight, a therapist somewhere else, a primary care office that sees you once a year. Each one holds a fragment, and the only person carrying the whole story between them is the patient — usually while unwell, and usually without being told which parts matter.

The interactions are where this gets expensive. A stimulant affects sleep. Poor sleep affects mood. A mood medication affects weight. Weight affects blood pressure. Nobody holding a single fragment is positioned to notice the pattern, and the patient is rarely told there is one to look for.

Board certification in both psychiatric mental health and family practice is what makes the alternative possible here: those pieces can sit with one clinician, in one record, in one conversation.

What “holistic” means here, and what it does not

The word carries baggage, so it is worth being exact. It refers to the breadth of what is looked at — mind and body together — and not to the method. Care is conventional, evidence-based, and delivered by a licensed clinician. Nothing here is offered as a substitute for standard medical treatment.

If you are looking for alternative or complementary medicine, this is not that practice, and you should not spend money finding out the hard way.

Why we do not bill insurance

Insurance sets the length of an appointment, the interval between them, and which treatments require permission first. A practice built around one long relationship does not survive that well. Staying out of network is what makes it possible to give an appointment the time it needs rather than the time a billing code allows.

The trade is real and it falls on you: you pay directly. A new patient appointment is $319, published on the pricing page and confirmed before you book, so the number is never a surprise. There are no prior authorizations, no coverage denials, and no bill arriving three months later for an amount nobody warned you about.

We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid patients, and we are not in network with any plan.

How care is delivered

Everything happens by video. There is no waiting room and no office to drive to, which is what makes it possible to practise across 23 states rather than one county. You need to be physically located in a licensed state at the time of your appointment — a legal requirement for every telehealth provider, not a preference of ours.

The Alpharetta address on this site is administrative. It receives mail. It does not see patients, and we would rather say so plainly than let a street address imply a clinic that does not exist.

Who this practice is not for

A practice that tries to be right for everyone is usually being vague with somebody. This one is not the right choice if you are in a crisis or an emergency, if you need a physical examination or hands-on care, if you are enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid, or if you need your care billed to insurance.

If you are in crisis, call or text 988. In an emergency, call 911. This practice does not provide emergency care and cannot respond to urgent messages outside of Mon–Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm ET.

Common questions

Is this an alternative medicine practice?
No. “Holistic” here describes the scope of care, not the method. Treatment is conventional, evidence-based medicine delivered by a licensed clinician. The word is in the name because one clinician handles your mental health and your physical health rather than splitting them between practices — not because anything is offered in place of standard medical care.
Why is there only one clinician?
Because continuity is the point. Splitting care across a rotating panel means repeating your history at every visit and hoping someone notices how your treatments interact. One clinician holding the whole picture is the practice's reason for existing, so it is a deliberate limit rather than a stage to grow out of.
Is there an office I can visit?
No. Every appointment is by video. The Alpharetta address is an administrative office — it receives mail and it does not see patients.
Who is this practice not right for?
Anyone in an emergency or a mental health crisis, anyone who needs in-person examination or hands-on care, anyone enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid, and anyone who needs their care billed to insurance. Those are real limits and we would rather state them here than after you have booked.
